A connector plate's job sounds simple — joining two structural parts together — but it's actually one of the most stress-concentrated points in an assembly. Hole-position deviation forces internal stress into the joint when the two parts are mated; this stress often isn't visible at the time of assembly, but accumulates under long-term vibration or thermal cycling and eventually shows up as cracking or loosening at the joint. Plate flatness matters just as much — an uneven plate introduces a subtle angular offset between otherwise aligned components, an error that gets amplified over time.
